Why You Could Be Allergic to Marijuana
Allergies to marijuana are caused by the negative reactions to proteins in the plants pollen. Many types of plant pollen such as ragweed, flowers, and trees can cause allergic reactions in some people. Marijuana is no different. Marijuana flowers produce pollen that can be problematic to sensitive individuals. It is quite possible have negative reactions to these airborne allergens.
Marijuana smoke can not cause allergic reactions because burning marijuana breaks down all proteins. In other words, there are no allergens present in weed smoke. This is an undeniable fact as by definition an allergen is a protein. Nonetheless, sensitivity to weed is possible and there can be negative reactions to the drug which may resemble allergy attacks.
In extreme cases, some people may even have reactions to touching marijuana. This is very rare and there are few documented cases of severe marijuana allergies to my knowledge.
